How it works
Cutroom does the editing. You check the result and change the captions, the hook or the b-roll if you do not like them.
- Cutroom writes out everything you said and adds captions timed to your voice, word by word.
- Captions come in 40 styles, so people watching with the sound off can still follow what you did.
- It adds stock clips over your words by itself, and you swap in your own job clips where you want them.
- You change the video by editing the text, not a timeline. Fix a misheard word and the captions change with it.
- It also writes an opening headline for the top of the video. You can pick another one or type your own.
- Before you upload you pick one of four edit styles. Straight cut and Flow keep your take the way you said it, and Flow adds short sound effects where the picture changes. Punch and Native are faster: they shorten the long pauses Cutroom finds between your words and take out the ums and uhs that show up in your transcript.

How to add your own job clips
Your foam and before-and-after clips show your work better than stock clips, so put them where you talk about that step.
- Upload clips and photos from your phone once. They stay in your library for every later video.
- Highlight the words where you talk about a step, like the wheels or the seats, and pick the clip. It plays over exactly those words.
- Where you have no clip of your own, Cutroom uses one of millions of free stock clips. You can swap any of them.

What Cutroom does not do
Cutroom is built for short vertical videos where you talk.
- It needs you talking. If you only post foam clips set to music, a normal editor such as CapCut suits you better.
- It only makes vertical 9:16 video. It cannot make a wide video for YouTube or your website.
- It takes one video of you talking, up to 3 minutes long, and makes one finished video from it.
Questions people ask
- Do I have to talk on camera?
- Yes. Cutroom edits a video of you talking, so that is what you upload. You need no script, and your job clips can fill much of the screen, so your face is not on camera the whole time.
- Can I use my own clips of the job?
- Yes. Upload them from your phone, highlight the words where you talk about that step, and the clip plays over those words. Cutroom fills the rest with free stock clips.
- How long does it take to make one video?
- The edit is back about a minute after you upload. Checking it, swapping a clip or fixing a word takes a few minutes more.
- What should I say in a detailing video?
