Church video announcements: record one clip, get a finished vertical video

Cutroom turns one short clip of your pastor or a volunteer speaking to camera into a finished 9:16 church announcement or invite. Captions, b-roll and an opening headline are added for you.

In short

  • Cutroom makes church video announcements from one clip. Record it on a phone and get a captioned vertical video back.
  • Cutroom is made for Sunday invites, event announcements and Easter or Christmas service ads.
  • Cutroom does not clip a recorded sermon into shorts. OpusClip and Captions do that.
  • A volunteer fixes names in the transcript, and there is no editing timeline to learn.
  • Your first video is free with no card. Lite is $19.99 a month.

What Cutroom does for churches

Cutroom finishes the short, spoken church video: the invite, the announcement and the holiday service ad.

  • You record one clip to camera on a phone, up to 3 minutes, by the pastor or a volunteer.
  • Cutroom cuts the pauses and adds captions, b-roll on the words and an opening headline.
  • A finished invite runs 45 to 60 seconds, and an announcement can be shorter than that.
  • You get a 9:16 MP4 for Instagram, Facebook, TikTok or YouTube Shorts.
  • You change any clip or caption by reading the transcript.
  • Cutroom does not clip a recorded sermon into shorts.

When churches need video most

The church calendar sets the deadlines.

  • Easter, Christmas and a fall series kickoff are the busy seasons, when churches hope to see first-time guests.
  • Put the invite out two or three weeks ahead, because that is when people decide where they are going.
  • Film the holiday invite while you are already planning the service, so it is ready before that week fills up.

Three church videos to record

Each one is a single clip of 30 to 90 seconds, recorded straight to camera by one person.

  • The Sunday invite says who the church is for, what a first Sunday looks like and where to park.
  • The event announcement gives one event, one date and one reason to come, with the news in the first line.
  • The holiday service ad is an Easter or Christmas invite, run as a Meta ad to people within driving distance.

A 45-second Sunday invite, line by line

Record it in this order in one go. The opening headline comes from your first sentence, and b-roll lands on the words that name a place or a thing.

  1. Welcome

who the church is for, in one sentence

  2. What to expect

the music, the length, what people wear

  3. Parking and kids

where to go when you arrive

  4. The ask

the service time and the address

How it works

Upload the clip and Cutroom returns an edited 9:16 video in about a minute.

  • Cutroom transcribes the clip, tightens the pauses, and adds b-roll, captions and an opening headline.
  • Highlight a phrase and a clip lands over exactly those words.
  • Delete a sentence in the transcript and the video rebuilds around it.
  • Correct a misheard name or book of the Bible, and the captions follow.
  • Upload your own photos of the building, the kids' rooms or last Christmas, and Cutroom uses those before any stock clip.
  • The pastor can record the clip and a volunteer can finish it later, both in the same browser.

Every change is made in the text. There is no timeline, no keyframe and no layer to manage.

Other video tools churches use

Church media teams usually compare Captions, OpusClip and Cutroom. They do different jobs.

  • Captions has a page for church content creators, and it edits sermon clips and devotionals on a phone.
  • OpusClip has a church page, and it turns a full recorded service into dozens of short clips.
  • Cutroom finishes the invite, announcement or holiday ad recorded to camera. It does not clip sermons.
  • Many teams clip Sunday's message with one tool and make the invite in Cutroom.

Questions people ask

Can a volunteer record the church video instead of the pastor?
Yes. Anyone comfortable on camera can record it: a pastor, a youth leader or a greeter. Cutroom needs one speaker talking to camera, up to 3 minutes, filmed on a phone. Another volunteer can fix names in the transcript later and export the video.
What should a Sunday invite video say?
What a first-time guest wonders about: who the church is for, what the service is like, how long it runs, where to park and what happens with the children. End with the service time and the address. Forty-five to sixty seconds holds all of it.
Can we use photos of our own church building and rooms?
Yes. Upload clips as MP4, MOV or WebM and stills as PNG, JPEG or WebP. Cutroom uses your own clips and photos first, and fills anything they do not cover with free stock footage. If children appear, get their parents' consent first.
Will the captions spell names and books of the Bible correctly?
Usually, and when they do not, you fix it in one step. Correct the word in the transcript and the burned-in captions change with it. You never retype captions on a timeline.
Can we run a church invite as a local Facebook or Instagram ad?
Yes. The finished 9:16 MP4 fits Reels and Stories placements. Upload it in Meta Ads Manager and set the audience there, for example people within driving distance of the church. The targeting, budget and schedule stay in Ads Manager.
How much does a church announcement video cost to make?
Your first video is free, with no card, and you have 7 days to make it. After that, Lite is $19.99 a month for 1,250 credits. A 30-second announcement uses about 110 credits, so Lite covers about 11 a month.
Who should not use Cutroom for church video?
Teams whose main job is clipping the full sermon into shorts. Cutroom's longest clip is 3 minutes from one speaker, so it cannot handle a 40-minute recording. OpusClip and Captions both sell sermon clipping.
