Video marketing for coaches: the take exists, the edit was the bottleneck
A coaching client is buying a person, and they want to watch that person think before they book a call. You already explain your framework out loud every working day, so the material is not the problem. The evening it takes to edit one video is. Cutroom takes one talking take from your phone, places b-roll on the exact words that need it, times the captions, drops the ums, and returns a 9:16 video in about a minute. Here is how it works, what it costs, and when a phone alone is enough.
- From upload until the finished edit is back
- ~1 min
- One finished 30 second video, batch plus export
- 110 CR
- Free in your first 7 days, no card
- 3 videos
- To cancel, under Settings
- 1 click
Your face is the product. That is the moat, not the burden.
A course can be copied. A curriculum can be resold. The way you explain a hard thing to a specific person cannot, and that is what a coaching client is actually paying for.
Which is why video does the selling in this profession. A prospect who has watched you work through six problems on camera arrives at the discovery call half decided. A prospect who has only read your website arrives with a list of doubts.
The coaches who win on video are rarely the best presenters. They are the ones still posting in month four, because trust is built on the seventh video, not the first.
The thing that stops most coaches getting to month four is not nerves and not material. It is that every video costs an evening to edit, and the evenings belong to client work.
You already talk for a living. Use that.
Think about what you said out loud this week. A webinar. Four discovery calls. A group session where you walked someone through the same framework for the tenth time.
That is the content. The question a client asked twice this week is the video, and you already know your answer word for word because you gave it twice.
So the input here is one talking take on your phone, up to 3 minutes, said the way you said it on the call. No script, no studio, no second camera.
Cutroom transcribes every word, writes the hook, drafts the cut, places b-roll on the words that describe something, tightens the dead air and burns in captions in your pick of six styles.
From a client-call answer to a posted video
A 30 second video comes to about 110 credits, batch and export together.
Film one take
Up to 3 minutes, phone at eye level
Batch
100 credits: transcript, director pass, b-roll search
Direct on the transcript
Highlight a phrase, a clip lands on it
Export
20 credits per finished minute, 9:16 MP4
This is the whole editor
Highlight a phrase and a clip lands on those exact words. No timeline, no keyframes, no layers.
You direct on the transcript, never a timeline
The edit comes back as text you can point at. Highlight the phrase where you name your three-step framework and a visual lands on exactly those words. Delete a line you regret and the cut rebuilds around it.
Upload your own material once, slides, screenshots, client-session b-roll, and it is available for every video after that. The stock search adds millions of free clips for everything you did not film.
Captions are timed to the word, in one of six styles, and stay readable on mute, which is where most of your viewers are.
The finished file is a 9:16 MP4 at 1080 by 1920. That is the shape Reels, TikTok, Shorts and the LinkedIn mobile feed want.
What to film: frameworks, not motivation
Motivational clips perform like wallpaper. They get a nod and no follow, because the viewer learned nothing they can attach your name to.
One framework explained properly in 45 seconds does the opposite. The viewer uses it, it works a little, and you become the person whose thinking works. Five takes that earn that:
- The framework. Name it, give the three steps, give one example from real client work.
- The client question. The one you answered twice this week, answered in plain words.
- The objection. The reason people hesitate to hire a coach like you, taken seriously on camera.
- The mistake. The thing your clients were all doing before they came to you, and what to do instead.
- The myth. The advice in your field that sounds right and is not, and why.
What it costs, counted in credits
A batch is 100 credits: the transcript, the director pass and the b-roll search. Export adds 20 credits per finished minute, so a 30 second video is about 110 credits and a one minute video is 120.
Try it first. 3 finished videos are free in your first 7 days, with 600 credits and no card. Free exports carry a Cutroom mark across the middle.
Lite is $19.99 a month for 1,250 credits, about 11 finished 30 second videos, and it takes the mark off. Cancelling is one click under Settings.
Basic is $39.99 for 2,500 credits and adds avatars and generated music. Premium is $79.99 for 5,000 credits.
Finished 30 second videos a month, plan by plan
At about 110 credits a video, batch plus export. Free exports carry a Cutroom mark.
- Free, first 7 days3 videos
- Lite, $19.99~11 videos
- Basic, $39.99~20 videos
The honest limits
The take you upload caps at 3 minutes. It does not clip a one hour webinar into twenty shorts; tools built for that exist, and this is not one. Re-saying the idea fresh in 45 seconds usually beats the clipped version anyway.
Somebody has to talk, and for a coach that somebody should be you. An avatar route exists on Basic, $39.99 a month, where a photo and a script become a rendered presenter at 350 credits a minute of render. It works, and for a profession where the face is the product, the real take is both cheaper and more convincing.
Exports are 9:16 MP4 only. Right for every vertical feed, wrong for a 16:9 conference screen or an embedded website player.
If you post once a month, a phone and the platform's own captions cost nothing and are enough. This earns its fee when the videos are weekly.
Questions people ask
- Do I have to be on camera as a coach?
- For this profession, yes, and it is the point. The client is buying you, so the video has to contain you. If you truly will not film, Basic at $39.99 a month can render an avatar presenter from a photo and a script at 350 credits a minute of render. It is the dearer route, and a real take converts better for exactly the reason coaching sells at all.
- Can I turn my webinar recording into short videos?
- Not by clipping it. The source take caps at 3 minutes, and Cutroom edits one take into one finished video rather than slicing a long recording. The working method: note the best three moments of the webinar, then re-say each one fresh to your phone in 45 seconds. Vertical framing and second-take energy beat a cropped Zoom window.
- What does one finished video cost?
- About 110 credits for 30 seconds: a 100 credit batch plus an export at 20 credits per finished minute. The first 3 are free in your first 7 days, with 600 credits and no card. Lite is $19.99 a month for 1,250 credits, about 11 of those videos, and cancelling is one click.
- Do I have to start on a paid plan?
- No. 3 finished videos are free in your first 7 days, with 600 credits and no card asked for anywhere before the app. They export with a Cutroom mark across the middle. Lite at $19.99 a month for 1,250 credits removes the mark, about 11 finished 30 second videos, and cancelling is one click under Settings. Everything you exported stays yours.
- How long should my videos be?
- 30 to 60 seconds for a single framework or a single answer. Export costs 20 credits per finished minute, so shorter is also cheaper, and the viewer decides whether to stay in the first three seconds either way.
- Can I use my own slides and footage?
- Yes. Upload them once to your workspace library. Highlight the phrase in the transcript where a slide belongs and it lands on exactly those words. The stock search covers everything else.
One take between client calls in. A finished 9:16 video out, captions timed, your framework on screen at the moment you name it, about a minute later. The weekly video is now a five minute job.
