Resize a video for TikTok: fill the whole screen

What TikTok asks for
These are TikTok's specs for In-Feed ads, read in September 2026. For normal posts, check TikTok's current limits in the app.
- 9:16 is the shape TikTok recommends, because it fills a phone screen.
- 1:1 and 16:9 are accepted too, but they leave empty screen above and below your video.

Crop or pad?
Crop fills the new shape and cuts the edges off. Pad keeps the whole picture and adds bars.
- Crop is the better choice when the person or the product sits in the middle of the frame.
- Pad is the better choice when nothing may be cut, such as text, a logo or a wide product shot.
- You pick black or white bars for padding.
- The preview shows the crop window and how much of the picture you keep.

- 9:16 vertical. TikTok's ad specs recommend 9:16, accept 1:1 and 16:9, and ask for at least 540 × 960 pixels for vertical video.
- Why does my landscape video look small on TikTok?
- A 16:9 video fills only a band across a phone held upright. Crop it to 9:16 to fill the screen, or Pad it to keep the whole picture.
- Should I crop or pad for TikTok?
- Crop when the person or product is in the middle of the frame. Pad when the edges matter, like text or a wide shot.
- Is a 9:16 crop from a 1080p video sharp enough?
