How do you record a video with your webcam online?
Press Turn on camera, allow access once, then press Start recording. A 3-second countdown runs before the recording starts.
After you allow access, two lists show every camera and microphone your browser can see, by name. Pick a USB webcam or a headset microphone there.
- You can pause as often as you like. The paused time is left out of the file.
- Press Stop and the video plays back with its length, its size and a Download button.
- The camera stays on between recordings, so you can record again straight away.
- If you blocked the camera, the page tells you. Allow it in your browser's address bar and try again.
- You can switch to another camera or microphone without reloading the page.
- The lists lock while you record, so switch before you press Start recording.
- Device names only appear after you allow access, because browsers hide them until then.

What video quality does it record?
Up to 1920 × 1080, also called Full HD. The recorder asks your camera for that size, and a camera that cannot do it records at its own best size.
- The recorder aims for 2.5 megabits a second. A minute is 150 megabits, which is 18.75 MB, so about 19 MB.
- A 3-minute video is about 56 MB.
- The real size is shown next to the video after you stop.

Why is my webcam video flipped?
Only the preview is mirrored, like in a video call. The saved file shows you the way everyone else sees you.

How to look good on a webcam
Light, camera height and where you look make the biggest difference, and none of them cost anything.
- Face a window or a lamp. A window behind you turns you into a dark shape.
- Put the camera at eye level. A couple of books under the laptop is enough.
- Look at the camera lens, not at your own picture on the screen.
- Leave a short pause after the countdown and after your last word, so nothing gets cut off.
