How to change video speed online
Drop your video in the box above and pick one of six speeds. Below 1× slows the video down, and above 1× speeds it up. The new length shows as soon as the browser has read your file.
Choose Keep the sound or Drop the sound, then press Change speed. The picture and the sound change together, so the voice stays in time with the lips.

How long your video will be
The new length is the old length in seconds divided by the speed. A 60-second video at 2× plays in 30 seconds, and at 0.5× it plays for two minutes.
The file gets smaller or bigger in step with the length, because the tool keeps the quality your video already had. Half the length is about half the size, and double the length is about double.
- To fit a 70-second video under one minute, you need 70 ÷ 60 = 1.17×. Pick 1.25× and it plays in 56 seconds.
- The tool shows the same sum for your own file before you run it.

What happens to the voice and the picture
Speeding up sound the simple way raises its pitch, so voices sound high and squeaky. This tool changes the tempo and keeps the pitch, so a faster voice still sounds like you.
The picture keeps the frame rate it was filmed at. At 2× every other frame is dropped. At 0.5× each frame is shown twice, so movement looks slower but not smoother.
- Smooth slow motion has to be filmed at 60 or 120 frames a second. No tool can show frames the camera never recorded.
- At half speed, a 30 fps video shows 15 real frames a second, a 60 fps video 30, and a 120 fps video 60.
- Keeping a voice at its own pitch works best between 0.5× and 2×. At 3× the tool does it in two steps, 2× and then 1.5×.

Which speed to use
For a video of you talking that feels slow, try 1.25× first. It is a small change that is hard to notice, and the whole video feels tighter.
For a screen recording or a walkthrough, 1.5× or 2× works well, because the words still come through clearly. Keep 3× for a time-lapse of a desk or a build, where nobody has to follow a voice.

Nothing is uploaded, and the limits
The tool runs ffmpeg, a free video program, inside your browser. It downloads once, about 32 MB, and then opens your video in this tab. Nothing is sent to a server or stored.
A speed change rewrites every frame, so the picture is always re-encoded once. The loss in quality is hard to see. Keep the tab open while it runs.
- It takes about as long as the video plays on a laptop, and longer on a phone.
- The tool warns above 500 MB. If the tab runs out of memory, use a shorter clip.
- Work from the original file, because every re-encode loses a little quality.

- How do I change the speed of a video online?

- Will speeding up a video make the voice sound high?
- No. The tool changes the tempo and leaves the pitch alone, so a voice at 1.5× is the same voice talking faster. Slowing down works the same way: slower, but at the same pitch.
- Does changing the speed lose quality?
- A little, once. Every frame gets a new time, so the picture is re-encoded at a setting that is hard to tell from the original. Work from the original file, not a copy that was already changed.
- Is my video uploaded when I change its speed?
- No. The tool runs in this tab after a one-time download of about 32 MB. Nothing is sent, nothing is stored, and closing the tab clears everything except the file you downloaded.
- How do I make a video fit under 60 seconds?
- Divide its length by 60 and pick the next speed up. A 70-second video needs 70 ÷ 60 = 1.17, so 1.25× brings it to 56 seconds, and speech still sounds natural at that speed.
