Resize a video for LinkedIn: square, as an MP4

Drop a video above, keep square or pick another shape, and choose Crop or Pad. You get an MP4 that LinkedIn accepts.

In short

  • Square 1:1 is the safest shape for LinkedIn, and it is already set here.
  • 4:5, 16:9 and 9:16 are one tap away, and all of them fit what LinkedIn accepts.
  • The tool always writes an MP4, which matters because LinkedIn no longer accepts MOV files.
  • LinkedIn allows up to 10 minutes and 5 GB on a company page.
  • Nothing is uploaded. The tool runs in this browser tab, so your video stays with you.

Your file never leaves this page. The engine downloads once, the work happens in this tab, and there is no upload, no account and no storage. Close the tab and the file is gone unless you downloaded it.

What LinkedIn asks for

These are the numbers LinkedIn publishes for video on a company page, read on its help page in September 2026. LinkedIn does not publish a separate list for a post from your own profile, so go by these.

  • LinkedIn takes almost any shape, so which one you pick is your choice and not a limit.
  • LinkedIn no longer takes AVI, QuickTime or MOV files, so post an MP4.
  • An iPhone saves video as a MOV file, and resizing it here turns it into an MP4 at the same time.

Crop or pad?

Crop fills the new shape and cuts the edges off. Pad keeps the whole picture and adds bars.

  • Crop is the better choice when the person or the product sits in the middle of the frame.
  • Pad is the better choice when nothing may be cut, such as text, a logo or a wide product shot.
  • You pick black or white bars for padding.
  • The preview shows the crop window and how much of the picture you keep.

What a crop keeps

Crop sizes from a 1080p clip. The crop is taken from the centre and never blown up.

Limits of a browser tool

Everything runs on your own device, so your device sets the limits.

  • File size: up to 500 MB runs comfortably. Bigger files may run out of memory.
  • Speed: the engine uses one processor core, so a long re-encode takes minutes.
  • First run: the engine downloads once, about 32 MB. After that it starts fast.
  • Phones: it works, but a laptop is faster and has more memory.

Questions people ask

What is the best video size for LinkedIn?
Square (1:1) or 4:5, which take more of the feed on a phone than 16:9. LinkedIn accepts any shape from 1:2.4 to 2.4:1.
Why won't LinkedIn take my MOV file?
LinkedIn's help page says AVI, QuickTime and MOV files are no longer supported. This tool always writes MP4, so resizing fixes that too.
How long can a LinkedIn video be?
Up to 10 minutes, and up to 5 GB, per LinkedIn's help page.
Are LinkedIn's video limits different on a personal profile?
LinkedIn does not publish a separate list for personal profiles. The numbers on its help page are for video on a company page, so go by those: an MP4, up to 10 minutes, up to 5 GB.
Can I post a 9:16 video on LinkedIn?
Yes, LinkedIn takes vertical video. On a desktop screen it shows narrow, so square is the safer all-round pick.
Is my video uploaded anywhere?
No. The tool runs inside this browser tab, so your video never leaves your device. Only the engine itself is downloaded, about 32 MB, once per visit.
