What kind of music does your video need?
Music does one of three things in a video, and each one suits different tools.
- Background music plays quietly under someone talking. Soundraw, Mubert and ElevenLabs make it, and so does Cutroom's Music tab, for videos you edit in Cutroom.
- A song or jingle is short, often sung and meant to be remembered. Suno is best at this.
- Music for a video with no talking, like a product montage, carries the mood on its own. Any instrumental tool here works, and Suno makes instrumentals too.

Can you still use Udio for video?
No. Udio stopped downloads after its 2025 deal with Universal Music, so no Udio plan lets you use a track in a video.

What about AIVA, Beatoven.ai and Stable Audio?
All three also make music for video. What you may do with a track depends on the plan, so here is what each one allows.
- AIVA's free plan gives you 3 downloads a month, but you may not earn money from them and you must credit AIVA.
- AIVA Standard, €11 a month billed yearly, lets you earn money from videos only on YouTube, Twitch, TikTok and Instagram. Pro, €33 a month billed yearly, gives you the copyright and no limits.
- Beatoven.ai makes royalty-free background music. You pay per track or subscribe, and every download comes with a licence to earn money from your video. Beatoven keeps ownership of the track.
- Stable Audio, from Stability AI, has a free plan and paid plans. Tracks made on Pro or higher stay covered by their licence even after you cancel.

Suno, ElevenLabs and Mubert have free plans. Soundraw lists no free plan and starts at $5.99 a month.
