A 90-second tour of the Cutroom editor

Once an edit is ready, you can change the clips, the captions, the opening headline and the music. This short demo walks through the four areas of the editor and what each one lets you do.

What the video shows

The editor has four areas: the video preview, the clips in your edit, the controls for the captions, the opening headline and the music, and the full transcript behind them.

Click a clip to move it or change how it comes in, pick a different clip, or take it out. If part of the transcript has no clip on it, select those words and add one yourself.

The caption style, thickness and animation can all be changed, and so can the music and the headline that opens the video. Export renders the finished video with every change in it.

  3. 0:09There are four main areas you'll be working with.
  4. 0:12First, you have the video preview, then you have your selected clips, followed by the captions, headline, and music controls.
  5. 0:20And finally, in the background, you have the full transcript.
  6. 0:25Once your edit is ready, you can easily inspect and adjust every part of it.
  7. 0:30For example, if you click on a clip in the sequence, you can change its position or even switch up the transition.
  8. 0:37You can also replace the actual clip by scrolling down and selecting a different one or remove the clip entirely if you don't need it.
  9. 0:45And if you notice that a part of the transcript isn't covered by a clip, simply select that section and add a clip yourself.
