Which tool fits the work you sell?
The right tool depends on the work your clients pay for. A brand film needs a different tool than a weekly short video.

| Brand films with frame-by-frame review | Premiere Pro | Full control, with Frame.io for client comments |
| Podcasts, webinars and long interviews | Descript | The full edit and short clips, made by editing the transcript |
| A small team editing together | Kapwing | One browser editor the team shares, with up to 1,000 subtitle minutes a month on Pro |

This is the whole editor
Highlight a phrase and a clip lands on those exact words. No timeline, no keyframes, no layers.
Premiere Pro
Premiere Pro is a professional timeline editor that many agency editors already know. It runs on Windows and Mac, with phone apps for iPhone and Android.
- Best for: brand films that several editors work on and clients review frame by frame.
- It writes a transcript of every clip you add, and it can build a first version of the edit from a script you paste in.
- Its AI tools can make a clip a little longer, pick out and track an object in the shot, clean up speech and search your footage by what is in it. It can also translate captions into 18 languages.
- Frame.io is built in, so clients can comment on each version.
- Price: US$22.99 a month on a yearly plan billed monthly, with a 7-day trial. A Teams licence is US$37.99 a month each.
- Tradeoff: an editor builds every ad by hand on the timeline, and each editor needs their own licence.
Descript
Descript edits video the way you edit a document. It suits agencies that produce podcasts, webinars and long client interviews.
- Best for: podcasts, webinars and long client interviews.
- Delete a sentence in the transcript and the video goes with it. Underlord, its AI assistant, can take the pauses and mistakes out of a raw recording for you.
- Paid plans include comments and live collaboration. Business adds custom avatars, and dubbing into 30+ languages with a script you can check before it is voiced.
- Price: the free plan gives you 60 minutes a month at 720p, with a watermark. Hobbyist is $16 per person a month billed yearly, or $24 monthly. Business is $50 billed yearly, or $65 monthly.
- Tradeoff: it is priced per person, and you still add the b-roll and make the vertical version yourself.
Kapwing
Kapwing is a browser editor built for a team to share. It is especially good at adding subtitles to a lot of videos.
- Best for: small teams that edit together in a browser.
- It has a drag-and-drop timeline, automatic subtitles, translation and a tool that turns one long video into social clips.
- Paid plans add a shared workspace where your team works on the same projects, a brand kit with your fonts and 100 GB of storage. Pro includes up to 1,000 subtitle minutes a month.
- Price: the free plan exports at 720p, up to 4 minutes, with a watermark. Pro is $16 per member a month billed yearly, or $24 monthly. Business is $50 billed yearly, or $64 monthly.
- Tradeoff: you still place every clip on the timeline yourself.
Submagic
Submagic adds captions, b-roll and sound effects to short videos your clients already film. It is built for posting a lot of short videos.
- Best for: agencies that post many short captioned videos for several clients.
- Its captions work in 123 languages. Magic Clips cuts long videos into short ones.
- Pro adds automatic zoom-ins, b-roll from the Storyblocks stock library and a scheduler that posts from the editor.
- Price: there is no free plan, but you can try it free. Starter is $12 a month billed yearly, or $19 monthly, for 15 videos up to 2 minutes. Pro is $23 billed yearly, or $39 monthly, for 40 videos.
- Business is $41 billed yearly, or $69 monthly, for 100 videos up to 30 minutes, in 4K.
- Tradeoff: each plan caps the videos you can make a month, so a busy agency may need Business or more than one account.
Arcads
Arcads makes a UGC-style ad with an AI actor, so the client never has to be on camera.
- Best for: agencies that test many AI actors and scripts for clients who have no one to put on camera.
- You write the script, pick one of 1,000+ AI actors or a custom avatar, and Arcads makes the ad.
- The editor adds captions, removes backgrounds, swaps actors and changes voices. It translates into 30+ languages.
- Price: not published. The site shows no price before you sign up.
- Tradeoff: you cannot budget from the website, and the face is an AI actor, not the client.
Client review
Premiere Pro and Descript let a client comment inside the tool. Kapwing gives your team one shared workspace. With the others, you send the client the video file.
- Premiere Pro has Frame.io built in, so clients comment on each version.
- Descript has comments and live collaboration on paid plans.
- Kapwing has a shared workspace on paid plans, where your team works on the same projects.
- Arcads does not describe client review on its site.
- Submagic lists no review step on its pricing page, and Cutroom has none, so you send the client the video file.
Prices and how each tool charges
Descript, Kapwing and Cutroom have a free plan or a free first video. Premiere Pro has a 7-day trial, Submagic can be tried free, and Arcads shows no price.
- Premiere Pro, Descript and Kapwing charge per person, so the cost grows with each editor you add.
- Submagic charges per plan, and each plan caps the videos a month at 15, 40 or 100.
- Cutroom charges in credits, and each plan is one login. A 30-second ad costs about 110 credits, and a top-up adds 2,500 credits for $39.99.

Which one should you choose?
It depends on the work your clients pay for. You may need one tool for brand work and another for weekly videos.
Which one should you choose
Choose Premiere Pro if you have editors on staff, clients who review every frame and brand films to deliver.
Choose Descript if you produce podcasts, webinars and long interviews and want to edit them as text, with team comments.
Choose Kapwing if a small team edits together in the browser and subtitles a lot of videos.
Choose Submagic if you post many short captioned videos for several clients and want captions, b-roll and a scheduler in one place.
Choose Arcads if your clients have scripts but no one on camera, and you test many AI-actor versions a week.
Choose Cutroom if clients and creators send you videos of themselves talking and you want each one back as a finished vertical ad. Your first video is free.
Where Cutroom fits
Cutroom is for the videos your clients and creators film of themselves talking to camera. You upload one clip and get a finished vertical ad back in about a minute.
- You upload one clip of the client or a creator talking, up to 3 minutes long.
- Cutroom cuts the pauses, puts b-roll clips over the things the speaker mentions, and adds a hook and captions in one of 40 styles.
- You change the edit in the transcript. Highlight a phrase to put a clip over it, or delete a line to cut it.
- Each plan is one login, with no team invites. Lite is $19.99 a month for 1,250 credits, Basic $39.99 for 2,500 with avatars and music, and Premium $79.99 for 5,000.
- There is no shared workspace, so the client reviews the exported MP4. It only makes vertical (9:16) videos from clips up to 3 minutes.
- Your first video is free, with no card, and you have 7 days to make it. It carries a Cutroom mark; Lite at $19.99 a month removes it.

Questions people ask
- What is the best AI video editor for an agency?
- It depends on the work. Premiere Pro is best for brand films with client review, Descript for long recordings, Kapwing for a small team in the browser, Submagic for many short captioned videos and Arcads for AI-actor ads. Cutroom is best when a client talks to camera and you want the video back as a finished vertical ad.
- Which of these video editors have client review built in?
- Premiere Pro and Descript. Premiere Pro has Frame.io built in, and Descript has comments and live collaboration on paid plans. Kapwing gives your team a shared workspace on paid plans. Arcads does not describe client review on its site, and Submagic lists none on its pricing page. Cutroom has no shared workspace, so you send the client the exported MP4.
- How does Cutroom pricing work for an agency?
- Cutroom charges for credits, and each plan is one login with no team invites. A 30-second ad costs about 110 credits: 100 for the edit and 20 per minute of export. Lite is $19.99 a month for 1,250 credits, Basic $39.99 for 2,500 and Premium $79.99 for 5,000, which is about 45 thirty-second ads.
- Can Cutroom keep each client's videos looking the same?
- Partly. You can pick the same caption style, font and hook style for each client's videos. Cutroom does not save a style per client, so you pick it again for each video.
- Is Premiere Pro or Cutroom better for agency work?
- Premiere Pro is better for brand films, and Cutroom for weekly short videos. Premiere Pro gives an editor full control and lets clients comment in Frame.io, but someone has to edit every video by hand. Cutroom turns one video of someone talking into a finished vertical ad in about a minute, with no timeline.
- When is Premiere Pro still the better choice?
- For brand films and case studies with graphics, interviews filmed with several cameras, and anything where the client will notice the colour and the sound. Premiere Pro gives an editor control over all of that. For weekly videos of one person talking, an AI editor is enough.
Upload one client video and see the finished ad before you pay. Your first video is free.
